Providing philosophy, concepts, and schools of though concern-
ing research methodology and quantitative research methods used in social
science. The use of quantitative research methods, the philosophical and
theoretical underpinnings of this type of research, the various approaches
and schools of thought, as well as particular research methods including
the use of computer program for data analysis. The course will also place
qualitative approaches and methods within the broader research design, i.e.,
in the case of social work policy development. But most of all, the course
will help the student to make progress in the formulation of their problem
statement, their research design, quantitative data collection, and interpreting
results using statistical software.

Reviewing the foundation of philosophy, principle, concept and the-
ory, context and evolution concerning social security which included social
protection, social empowerment and social welfare both in Thailand and interna-
tional perspective. The present social policy in any specific area is picked up
to analyze in order to examine the concept and theory using in social policy
formulation including the roles of parties and other crucial elements leading to
an achievement of the social policy implementation.
